Areas We Serve

There are many small towns and cities that make up the community of East Contra Costa County. Here are some of the areas we serve within that community and a little information about each.

Diablo-Mountain

Bay Point, California

Bay Point is an area that is just shy of ten square miles of space, but it is home to just over 25,000 residents. This area is generally younger than many of the other cities in Contra Costa County, with the median age of residents being just over 30 years old. The city, originally known as Bella Vista, became official when the school district was formed in 1857.

Pittsburg, California

Pittsburg, California, is home to just over 70,000 people. It was incorporated in 1903 and is just under 20 square miles in size. Like the more famous Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, it is also an industrial town. However, this Pittsburg is located along Suisun Bay’s southern shore. The city has been known for its coal and industry since the 1800s and is home to massive industrial companies even today. Two of the biggest are Corteva and USS-POSCO.

Bethel Island, California

Located just a few miles east of Antioch is Bethel Island, California. The population of this area is just under 4,000 residents, but considering the size is only 3,500 acres, the population fits the space. As with most islands, the city is known for its water, and fishing is something people flock to the area for all year long. Plus, the views, the water sports, the wildlife, and the recreation on the island are second-to-none anywhere else in the area.

Knightsen, California

Knightsen, California, is known for having almost the same number of people as horses. The city is a mere 8.5 square miles, but many parts offer open pastures that cater to the equestrians in the area. It even boasts the oldest 4-H chapter anywhere in California. Since its founding in 1898, the area has grown to include farms, dairies, and a wide range of crops, such as almonds, grapes, and apricots. NFL player Jeremy Newberry also resides in Knightsen.

Brentwood, California

The beautiful city of Brentwood, California, is home to over 60,000 residents in its 15 square miles of space. This suburb of Oakland was incorporated in 1948, although its first post office came in 1878. Many historic buildings are still within their perimeter, adding to the city’s charm. Brentwood is home to many festivals throughout the year and a solid connection to the arts and local culture.

Byron, California

Byron sits on 6.5 square miles and is home to more than 2,000 residents. The town was founded back in 1878 when railroad tracks were laid by the Tulare Railroad Company and the San Pablo Railroad Company. The area is known for its diversity and excellent schools. It is also known for its fertile lands that allow dozens of fruit trees and vegetable varieties to be grown.

Discovery Bay, California

Around 16,000 residents call Discovery Bay, California home. The area is approximately 7 square miles and offers a more rural lifestyle than many neighboring communities. Discovery Bay was planned out and man-made to initially be a resort. Plans began in 1964 with the area known as Riverside, and the community has since flipped to Discovery Bay. The area has limited amenities but has one private and three public schools, a full marina, a business park, and two shopping centers. However, the views from the area are fabulous.

Oakley, California

Oakley is home to more than 40,000 residents and covers a little more than 16 square miles. It was incorporated in 1999 and is the most recently incorporated city within Contra Costa County. However, it also has roots that date back to prehistoric times based on what archaeologists have found in the area. It is almost perfectly centered in Contra Costa County, as it is 55 miles south from the city of Sacramento, as well as 55 miles east from the city of San Francisco.

Antioch, California

Antioch, California, is a city right off the San Joaquin River that is home to over 100,000 people. Many shops, restaurants, and businesses are nestled in its 30 square miles. The area is best known as a gateway to what is known as the California Delta. The place where the Sacramento and San Juaquin Rivers meet up before hitting the Pacific Ocean is beautiful for residents and visitors alike.
