When most people think about making a difference, they imagine a grand gesture—a large one-time donation, a big check, or a major fundraising campaign. But at Meals on Wheels Contra Costa, we’ve seen firsthand that consistent, modest contributions from caring neighbors like you can create lasting change.

That’s the magic of monthly giving.

A gift of $10, $20, or even $30 a month might seem small—but when added up across our community, it fuels the delivery of thousands of meals to homebound seniors across Contra Costa County, from Concord to Richmond to Brentwood.

Why Monthly Giving Matters to Meals on Wheels Contra Costa

1. Predictable Support = Reliable Services

With monthly gifts, our team can ensure consistent funding, providing stability and reliability for the meals seniors depend on. This stable funding helps us provide daily nutrition and human connection to approximately 3,800 older adults across the region.

2. Every Dollar Adds Up

Think your $15/month won’t make a difference? Think again. Your contribution, combined with dozens of other monthly donors, helps fund the essential costs of getting meals to seniors, from food preparation to packaging, transportation, and delivery support.

3. Less Hassle, More Heart

Monthly giving is automatic, secure, and flexible. Once you set it up, you can adjust or cancel anytime. It’s peace of mind for you—and a lifeline for the seniors we serve.

Real Impact, Right Here in Contra Costa

“I give because I remember going to bed hungry because there wasn’t enough money for food. Not once or twice, but regularly, when the money ran out before payday. Social Security is all the support the majority of senior citizens have, and it isn’t enough to live on, and I’m betting that plenty of folks run out of money for food every month.

So I give what I can so that at least some elders don’t go to bed hungry. I give to Meals on Wheels in particular because of the human engagement between volunteers and recipients.

There’s more than one way to be hungry, and the stories of how volunteers ease loneliness as well as provide food really go to my heart.” – Inanna

Inanna is one of hundreds of Contra Costa residents who have committed to supporting vulnerable seniors year-round. With her monthly gift, she’s helping provide nutritious meals, wellness checks, and reduce senior isolation—all while building a stronger community.
